We manage our own advertising at this site. Advertising is strictly to help finance the maintenance of this site and its continued operation. In order to satisfy our customers, we may provide information pertaining to the customer's ad which is limited to the number of impressions the ad has completed as well as how many times the ad was clicked. We maintain a strict privacy and acceptable use policy.
Regarding privacy, we maintain no less than our general privacy statement above. To further protect access
to your webmail account, we utilize cookies. With regard to cookies, webmail requires the enabling of
cookies in order to allow sessions. With sessions, a unique session code is created for your visit.
Upon exiting, the session cookie is deleted to preserve your privacy and ensure no-one is able to
inadvertently access your account from your computer, via stored cookies. It is still recommended you
choose to log-off from webmail when you are done, rather than simply closing your browser.
Regarding acceptable use, we maintain zero tolerance to spam. The use of this webmail service to
send or relay spam, also known in this document and elsewhere as UCE (Unsolicited Commercial Email),
will not be tolerated. Using this service to spam will result in immediate termination of your account.
We reserve the right to set the definition of what constitutes spam. As a guideline, mistakenly
delivered commercial email and relatively benign commercial signatures is unlikely to cause account
termination, although it may be cause for review or temporary suspension. Blatant spam and overt
commercial email sent to one, or many people who have not requested the commercial solicitation, is
most likely to cause immediate termination. We reserve the right to terminate accounts used for spam
and UCE, without warning. For the protection of account holders, it is unlikely that an account will
be terminated based solely on an unverified complaint nor based on a complaint which has no merit.
Further, obtaining an account for obvious, one time spamming, knowing full well the account will be
terminated, but without regard to this policy, will also result in a charge being filed against the
offending account holder at a rate of CDN$100 per individual address the offending email was sent to.
In other words, sending spam to one email address will cost the offending account holder CDN$100 and,
sending spam to 100 individual email addresses will cost the offending account holder CDN$10,000.
For the protection and convenience of all account holders, we implement virus and spam filtering of all
email. As a result, we hope that most viruses will be removed prior to entering our mail system. As
well, we note that we can eliminate a large variety of spam messages from entering our mail system. Even
with these filters in place, there is no guarantee that viruses and spam won't find it's way into the
email system. Therefore, we strongly recommend that everyone use appropriate antivirus software and
keep it up to date. These filters are in place for both inbound and outbound email. As a result of
this feature, we hope that most email being sent out with attachments infected by viruses will be
deleted, and not delivered to the recipient address. Also, this feature may result in blatant spam and
offensive messages from being sent via our account holders and mail server. In the event that we stop
spam from being delivered, we still reserve the right to charge offending account holders, as noted in
the above paragraph.
Regarding our filtering system, in the event that you receive email which is obvious spam, you may request
a strengthing of the filtering system or blacklisting of the offending sender. In the unlikely event that
inbound or outbound email is filtered, and you feel that the particular message, sender, or recipient
should not be filtered, you may request a loosening of the filtering system or whitelisting of a
particular sender. All requests for strengthening or loosening filters should be directed to
webmaster@uveais.ca. Any attempt to use
this feature to allow the sending of spam from an account, or allow spam to be sent to local account
holders will not be tolerated. Attempting to do so may constitute fraud. Appropriate charges may be
filed accordingly, as a result. We reserve the right to make final decision on what is filtered and
how those filter rules are implemented. We consider the filtering of email for viruses and spam a
complementary service for account holders. We consider it the responsibility of any account holder to
protect themselves against viruses and spam. We will not be held responsible for lost email,
productivity, or any other inconvenience, perceived or otherwise, as a result of our filtering procedures
or from any other feature and function, or lack thereof, of our internet services.
We regard the use of our webmail service for illegal purposes a violation of this privacy statment and
acceptable use policy. Any use of our webmail service for illegal activities will result in the
immediate termination of an account. We use Canadian law for the basis of determining illegal activities.
We reserve the right to terminate an account based on defined laws or perceived illegal or questionable
activities. We maintain that ultimately, due to our need to be responsible to the internet community
at large, we reserve the right, and may terminate any account, without question and without explanation.
We will not be held responsible for the illegal or questionable use of an account, or use of an account
which violates this acceptable use statement by an account holder, or by anyone, by any method used to
bypass, or attempt to bypass, our security features. We will, without question, terminate any account
which is found or presented to us and is proven to be used for illegal purposes, or used in ways which
violate this acceptable use statement.
